Bayliner 2755 Ciera repower

 

We bought this boat autumn 2004, and before I put it into water I started to look up some diesel engine to replace 5.8 l OMC. I found Mercruiser 3.6 litre 6 cyl. Turbo Diesel with Bravo 2 outdrive, engine was sold in parts! There was one exhaust valve broken which of course was smashed between piston and cylinderhead. We made a deal and VS-marin from Savonlinna took old OMC as trade.

I took the rest 5 cylinderheads off, but luckily there wasn't anything wrong. In that engine, which is made by Italian VM-Diesel there is own cylinderhead to each cylinder, so I needed 1 new cyl head and 1 piston. Little search fron net, and I found out that VM-Diesel has made 2,4 liter 4 cyl engines to some Range Rover cars. I asked this from factory and they confirmed that inner parts of these engines are the same.

I found used cylinderhead from 4,2 litre engine, which was identical with old one, from Porin vene- ja moottorikorjaamo, price was 200 eur. I ordered Piston and cylinderhead gaskets from Off-Road paja which sells Rover parts. Piston was from disassembled engine, but it was as good as new, price 50 eur (new one 190 eur), cylinderhead gaskets33 eur/eachl. Same parts to Mercruiser, piston 380 eur, cylinderhead gaskets 63 eur/each.

When I got parts, then just reassembled the engine and started to wait for the boat.
